5 features you may not know about

We are constantly adding new features to our water level sensors, our online dashboard and our mobile app so it can be easy to miss some of these updates.

We have made a list of 5 features that we think will help you in getting the most out of your Waterwatch device.

Rapid Change Alarm

Whether you are monitoring river levels for flood, tank levels for water supply or the depth on an underground bore, it is always important to be able to quickly identify any sudden changes to water levels. Our sensors have always been able to report high and low level alarms for set and forget monitoring, however, often when the preset threshold has been reached it is already too late to respond.

A rapidly falling level is often used to identify leaks in tanks and troughs, requiring a quick response to avoid lost water supplies. In another application, rapidly rising river levels can quickly warn low lying communities of potential flooding before the high water level is reached.

To set a rapid change alarm;

  • Log into your Waterwatch Live account at https://live.waterwatch.io/login

  • Click on the Sensors tab on the black bar at the top of the page

  • Next, choose the sensor you want to set a rapid change alarm for from the sensor list on the right hand side (this is only applicable if you have multiple sensors in your organisation).

  • Select Sensor Setup from the top right hand corner of your page

  • Select Remote Tasks (requires version 27 or higher)

  • Click the blue + Create button

  • Fill in the remote task pop up box as pictured and continue to select the relevant drop down options to suit your project.

  • Hit the blue Submit button to finalise your new alarm

Remote Tasks

Remote tasks were introduced so users with sensors installed far away can update their settings without visiting the installation site. With this new feature you can now remotely; update the schedular (measurement and transmission intervals), edit and create alarms and upgrade the firmware on your sensor.

Reducing travel time to the sensor installation site will save our customers time and money, whilst improving capabilities.

You will need firmware version 27 or higher to access these features.

If you haven't updated your sensor in a while, connect to the sensor by swiping the magnet down the right hand side of the sensor and selecting Search for Sensors in the app. When you are connected you can scroll down and select the Firmware Update Available option as shown in red. It will take a little while to update. During that period keep your phone close to the sensor. Once completed, the unit will disconnect, reboot and begin running again. The previous sensor settings will be saved and applied. When you next connect to the sensor the firmware section below will show green.

To create a remote task;

  • Log into your Waterwatch Live account at https://live.waterwatch.io/login

  • Click on the Sensors tab on the black bar at the top of the page

  • Next, choose the sensor you want to set a remote task for from the sensor list on the right hand side (this is only applicable if you have multiple sensors in your organisation).

  • Select Sensor Setup from the top right hand corner of your page

  • Select Remote Tasks from the settings list

  • Hit the blue + Create button to get started

  • Choose the options from the drop down menus and click Submit when you are done

It may take 3 or 4 days for the changes to take effect.
